On the afternoon of Sep 24, the East Rockaway Fire Department Water Rescue Unit was alerted for a mutual aide response to the City of Long Beach New York Fire Department and Point Lookout Lido FD for a boat fire outside of the Jones Beach Inlet.
ERFD Marine 17, Heavy Rescue 407 with divers, and Ambulance 408 responded to assist. Freeport Fire Department and Wantagh Fire Department Marine units were able to extinguish the fire and Town of Hempstead Bay Constables rescued one victim and brought them to shore. Text courtesy East Rockaway FD.
