I look at those videos of one of the largest fire depts in the U.S. I think if that fire was on the east coast it would be fought so differently.

Those hand lines are doing nothing to put out that fire. Instead, there'd probably be a few tower ladders going to work here.

There is just such a huge difference in the way fires are fought in the west coast vs the east coast.
 
You are not joking Bill! My experience with SoCal departments is they make a quick decision regarding offensive versus defensive attack. They have no problem giving everyone a handline and a place on the ground!
