Major fire on Fire Island.  Island has few decent roads; most FDs respond by ferry to the island.

Fire reported in multiple buildings on Bayview Walk / Holly Walk

Fire Island Preplan activated.

Departments responding: Sayville, West Sayville, Bayport, Kismet, Mastic Bch, Brookhaven, Hagerman, Islip, Bellport and N. Patchogue

SCWA (municipal water) pump is down on the island. Looking for a rush to boost pressure

Sayville Ferry underway now with 19 FF and 5 EMS. FC 26 and Fire Island Pines unable to respond due to high tide;  Looking for fire boats.

PD returning to base to get larger boat with pump. Also reporting boardwalk on fire

I don't think there's a pier anywhere on Fire Island that could handle the FF, Tom.  And it would probably take her 5 or 6 hours to chug around the island . . . no matter which way she went. Or were you just emulating me and being a smarta$$?
