Thanks Brad, you did a GREAT JOB making up this map.

Of course as a reminder to all the members, the numbers and incidents posted on this site are NOT Official. The count is only made possible from those who hear the jobs and post them. At times the online radio feed is down as well, and as I see it, that could have some bearing on these numbers.

Thank you to ALL of the members here who took the time to provide us with the rundowns, photos, and videos of the largest, and most likely, the busiest fire dept in the entire country.

New York City has a population of about 9 or 10 million people. The place is huge. By comparison, the entire State of Connecticut has only about one third of that population.

As a fire department the city has its huge high rise buildings, its row frames, private dwelling frames, multiple family dwellings, even its large shipping ports, two major airports, a massive train and bus transportation system and yes, at times, even it's large brush fires.

When it comes to the job of a firefighter, working within the FDNY, those guys just got to know their stuff. There's just no room to mess up with so many people counting on them. And I feel the same goes for the members of the NYPD and the FDNY/EMS.

So a HAPPY and SAFE New Years to ALL.
