Saw some blurry cell phone shots of the new ems lsu units. They are larger than the current ones, on international cabs with roll up doors.

  Joe, just as "Anesti" describes. They are FDNY/EMS units that carry extra medical equipment (stretchers, collars etc) for major EMS incidents. I believe each Boro has one. The one for the Bronx is stationed with the EMS Station at Jacobi Hospital.

LSU is pretty much what a MCI trailer/unit would be in other cities.

EMS Special Units:

LSU = MCI unit backboards and all restock equipment.
MERV = Mobile treatment unit
MRTU = Mobile O2 treatment for School mace incidents, CO and at fires for checking members for CO
METU? = New mass transport unit for hospital evacs and large patients.
WMD = Refrig box truck which has meds for large scale incidents such as a chemical attack. (Not on response Matrix)

The first of five EMS LSU trucks has been delivered.  They are on the 2013 International TerraStar chassis with a Specialty Vehicle Solutions custom 15-foot body.  One is to be assigned to each of the five EMS divisions to replace the five 2001 Ford F-450 trucks with Knapheide utility bodies. Equipment on each truck will include a 400+ square foot air inflatable tent.
