On the Ferrara web site, job # 4542 (the new R5) has dropped off the "In Production" page . . . but it hasn't yet shown up on "New Deliveries".  Could it be somewhere between Louisiana & New York???

Replaced with job 4546, . as per Chris Ferrara, the pics are updated when time allows. And are not in any production order, rigs are further along  then the updates allow, web has limits to the amount of in production rigs so they will be swapping rigs on the site  or possibly starting an fdny production page

The new R5 is in New York . . . and on display at the 2011 Nassau County Fire/EMS Mega Show at the Nassau Coliseum this weekend (thru today).  For info, see:

Rescue 5 is in the Metropolitan area.  It was at the Fire Show in the Nassau Colessium

Nice picture!  Did anyone ever figure out what that bump along with front of the box is?  Also, why so many antennas?

Photo is outside the Lucas Oil Center at the FDIC conference in Indianapolis. I will be there Thursday, I will let you know!

Has anyone seen this Ferrara facility? They seem to be able to work on a lot of vehicles at a given time and put them together pretty quick.

So what happens to them next? Do they get delivered to their houses or do they need to have anything else done, like MDT and radio fitted before they go into service?

R5 has FDNY on the left side of the rig, but R4 has Fire Department of New York on it, whats with the difference.

Nice to see they took the extra care to use R4 HUGE blue lettering on the rear.  Not important, but it's a nice piece of company tradition that someone took the care to see added to the final product.

Sharp looking.  I noticed a couple of rings on the rear that look like anchors.  Interesting.  Excellent tool for them.  How many anchor points do these new rigs have compared to the current ones?

As far as the graphics the companies probably had some input. We will have to wait and see what 3,2 and 1 have on their rigs.

The FDNY lettering certainly looks a lot better in my opinion.  Everything spelled out is too much lettering and hard to read if the truck is moving.

To make it even worse it has it spelled out on the chauffeurs side and FDNY on the officers side.

That kind of makes sense because there's less space on the officers side because of the windows.
