There was a delay in Starfire (FDNY Computer) of 90 seconds to 120 seconds after the alarm is released to companies before the info appears at the FDNY radio dispatcher screen unless a company is on the air or failed to acknowledge the response. MDT today increase this problem because the company now gets the response data on their screen. The other problem over the years when the computer link was established between SPRINT (NYPD) & STARFIRE (FDNY) dispatch system was the coding of calls. All 9-1-1 calls are NOT given to either EMS or the fire branch of FDNY. Only certain codes that are placed into the computer by the 9-1-1 receipt call operator are automatically transferred to both branches services of FDNY dispatchers. The correct info can be found in the text part of the call, & then once it reaches a PD radio dispatcher it might be properly updated.
