Just before 300am on January 20th, the Cortlandville Fire Department was alerted to a reported structure fire at the Cortland Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep Dealership on Rte.281.
On arrival firefighters found heavy fire coming from the rear of the building in the area of the auto service shop. Due to the large volume of fire, firefighters were forced to fight the fire from the outside. Firefighters deployed several hoselines and elevated master streams.

New York State DEC- Spill Response Team assisted in containment of oils from run-off.
The Cortlandville Fire Department was assisted by the Homer, Dryden, Virgil and McLean Fire Departments on scene. The McGraw and Groton Fire Departments provided standby coverage. NYS-DOT, Cortland County Sheriff's Department and Cortland County Department of Emergency Response and Communications all assisted.
New York State OFPC is investigating the cause of the fire.
