OLD NON-FDNY RIGS.

I have many photos of rig shots that I took back in the 70s and 80s, from some of the larger cities of New England, New York, New Jersey, and some from Philly, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cleveland, Ohio, and L.A. City and L.A. County (I think it includes the famous Squad 51 from the TV Show "Emergency").

I have them on disc, but I'm just not smart enough on how to post them. If there is anybody that might be interested, just send me a"PM" and maybe we can set something up.

There was talk that last year's Milford Muster might be their last;  I hope not.  The retail area was noticeably smaller.

Newark NJ FD Historical Assn also does a fairly large muster every year around downtown's Washington Park, as well as open house at their Fire Museum.  Usually the 1st Sunday in June

There is alot of truth to that.

Also, a member on this site has showed interest in posting the older rig shots I have from several other cities. I consider him a good friend and he has done posting for me in the past. "I got the stuff, if he got the time".

Just off the beaten path, Mundelien, Illionois had a great flea market just around Halloween. Lately the meet has seen less and less sellers, guys I have brought from are no longer going. The Chicago 5-11 club has a muster/flea market in June.

Pics of the PBF from the late '70s and early '80s would be incredible!

One of the biggest firemen's parades in the US is the Apple Blossom Festival Firemen's Parade held in Winchester, VA in April of every year.  There are usually dozens of antique rigs from all over the Eastern Seaboard.  Pictures of last year's parade here:

This year's parade is at 5:30 PM Friday, May 4th.  More info: http://www.thebloom.com

And lots more antique rig photos:  www.odhfs.org  (Old Dominion Historical Fire Society).

After viewing R1 SmokeEater's post and looking at some of the photos, I have a question. When did FDNY go to its current striping of 3" gold, 3" white and 3" gold?

Jacq, I believe it started with the 1991 Battalion cars &1992 Seagrave pumper deliveries (E-88 was 1st one) but they did try a demo white/gold/white stripes on TL-9's 1989 Mack- that had no "FDNY" markings, but " New York Fire"......a no go.

Thanks! I've always liked the look.

I beleive Chesea Ma brought a Mack CF TL and a Mack CF Engine. Also Somerville purchased a TL. Will try to get more info for previous rigs if possible.
