It was announced this morning that Philadelphia's Mayor Elect Cherelle Parker has appointed Philadelphia's current Fire Commissioner Adam K. Thiel to be the Managing Director in her administration which takes office next week. Commissioner Thiel was appointed in 2016 and has been good for the department bringing back Assistant Chiefs (CWTC), a third Division, two Battalions and six of the eight companies that were closed in 2009 with the other two to follow. He has also expanded EMS adding Chief's, Captains, Lieutenants and both ALS and BLS units. Under Philadelphia's Home Rule Charter the Managing Director is the head of all of the operating departments including Police and Fire. Good Luck Commissioner!
