In the very near future (Promotions are this Thursday, 12/20) The PFD will be reactivating Division 3, Battalion 5 and Battalion 6. Division 3 and Battalion 6 have been out of service since 1983. Battalion 5 has been out of service since 1993.
Division 1 will remain at Squad 47 in Grays Ferry (South Philadelphia)
Division 2 will move from Engine 70 in Oxford Circle to Engine 38 in Tacony (Northeast Philadelphia)
Division 3 will be reactivated at Engine 19 in Germantown (Northwest Philadelphia.
Battalion 5 will be reactivated at Engine 58 in Somerton (Far Northeast Philadelphia)
Battalion 6 will be reactivated at Engine 69 in Eastwick (Far Southwest Philadelphia near The Airport)
PFD also received a Grant to hire Firefighters and reactivate Engine and Ladder Companies that were placed out of service around 2010. Hiring is supposed to start early next year. Engines 1, 6, 8, 14, 39 and Ladders 1 and 11 were in this group.
