Is that firehouse L105's old quarters??
........LAD*105 s old qtrs on Pacific St was only used by SOC to house the Decon Laundry ......the original HQ (when SOC was known as "Rescue Services") was on Bradford St w/332....when the Marshalls vacated Roosevelt Island around '87/'88 it became the quarters of Car 13 David the CPT who was the on duty Citywide Rescue supervisor (the forerunner of the Rescue Operating Bn).....shortly after when Safety BN*2 was organized they took over the Bradford St office & when SOC was formed it was quartered on Roosevelt /SOC Island.....when Rescue services was formed in the mid '80s it only had a van to transport tools for repair & a car for the Chief as well as a Suburban for the CPT on duty w/13 David......it has certainly expanded today both in personnel as well as vehicles........Prior to the mid '80s the Rescue's were under the administrative control of the BN they were quartered in.

Is 521 just another Reserve Engine, or is it specifically used by SOC?

Nice shots by the way.

521 is just another reserve ENG kept on the Island......a Reserve ENG is different from a Spare in the fact that a spare wherever it is kept is stripped of all hose & ladders & equiptment......a Reserve Rig whether E or T is fully equipped while in storage.......  There always has been an equipped Pumper there going back to the days when Proby school was there....at that time it was w/the Mask Service Unit & would turn out w/2 FFs from MSU in addition to a regular assignment for any boxes on the Island.....it is still on standby in case the Bridge goes out unexpectedly.......when a scheduled long term opening of the Bridge is going to occur then an E & T are relocated to the SOC FH.......additional FD manpower can also arrive via Boat or on the Subway from E 63 St which now has a stop on the Island.
