Question on Marine 2 and Marine 11

Hi all,

I'm aware that Marine 1, 6, and 9 are FDNY's main year-round boats, and that Marine 3, 4, and 8 are the seasonal boats. When looking at runs and workers, it appears there are also occasionally units under the alias of Marine 2 and Marine 11 (in 2021 Marine 2 had 2 runs and Marine 11 had 7). Does anybody know what vessels are assigned to M2 and M11 and under what circumstances they become used? Apologies if that has been covered elsewhere but I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Great question, but a better pick up. During special events, July 4th fireworks, UN Meetings, Fleet Week, etc FDNY will activate extra vessels and assign them as needed. They use some of the older 33 feet fire boats such as Marine 3, 4, or 8 and also 1A, 6A, & 9A. Marine Batt also uses the same vessel. I have seen them also use a 27' Safe Boat that was used many years ago.

Marine 11 was the starfire cad designation for marine 1A
