Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon passed away yesterday, 7/17/26, at a hospice in California. Rest In Peace Sir and thanks for the great recordings and memories that you provided. Freddie was 89.

Arlene Smith, lead singer of The Chantels (Maybe) passed away this past Wednesday 7/29/26 at the age of 84. Rest In Peace and thanks for the memories.

Arlene Smith and the Chantels began singing together in the 1950s as a group at St Anthony of Padua School at 166 St and Prospect Ave in the Bronx.

Here is the song "Maybe" first released in December 1957.

ARLENE SMITH Passed To a Higher Level this week on 7-29-26 .in NYC at 84 yrs of age....Always an excellent presentation by the Chantels ( who made their name from a slight variation of the name of a BX NY School "St Francis De Chantal".).......one of the best was during one of the Doo Wop 50 shows where in the middle of "MAYBE" the music stops & Arlene Smith makes a Tribute to former member / deceased Singer Jackie Landry (Jackson ) .
