TL 33 Past Rigs

I am aware that Bronx TL33 ran a mack 75 footer, as well as a Mack 95 footer, does anyone have the dates/time period that they ran both these rigs, when was the 95ft replaced by the 75ft or the other way round whichever may be the case.

33 Truck was assigned a 75' Mack / Baker Tower Ladder (Reg. # MT 8411) in the mid 80's.  In the early 90's the company was assigned a 95' Mack / Baker Tower Ladder (Reg. # MT 9107D").

"Ladder 33 got its first Tower Ladder in 1973, a 75 foot MACK, I worked on that truck it was a good one.  I can tell you many stories when I was the chauffer (driver) of that truck many sad, many funny.  .
Ladder 33 got a 95 foot Tower Ladder in1990, along with 3 other Ladder companies, Ladder 44, ladder 58, and Ladder 50. 
There are no more 95 foot Tower Ladders in the Bronx now"

Not to burst bubble but the Bronx has a few 95 foot towers left in service L-44 L-51 and L-58 all have 95 foot towers, there havent been any 95 foot tl-s ordered with the new delivery of 75 footers.

Many thanks for the info Holger, and indeed there are still 95 footers in Da Bronx, i guess will be for some time to come.

Ladder 44,51 and 58 are all 95 foot T.L's

Nice Pics, did TL33 stay with the 95 footer throughout the 90's, or did they revert back to a 75footer Mack at some point.

I know that when 33 got their 95ft Seagrave TL in 2002 (i think), the rig couldnt make the turns getting into and out of the firehouse, hence TL33 reverted back to a 75ft TL, as it is today.

Yes, they had a 1959 Mack C/Maxim 85 Ft. tiller from 1960 to 1973 and all of their rigs before that were tillers including a 1933 Walter 75 ft. stick which was re-tractored with an Int'l tractor in
1949.

What about MT8702? There is a picture of them running it on FDNYtrucks.com. Does anybody know the timeframe for when they ran this rig?

That rig was used from July 2000 when they moved into their new firehouse on Cameron Place and the 95' rig couldn't manuver in and out of the new bldg. It was used until the present rig was received in 2002.

I am amazed that, having known the problems with turning in and out of the new firehouse with the old Mack 95ft, they still issued the company with a 95ft TL seagrave, which, as mentioned above, had exactly the same problem!! Hence they now are a 75ft TL company.

You can imagine, that it is problematic to manuver a bigger rig.

That photo is marked wrong. That is the 75' rig that they are assigned and are using now. Compare that photo to one of TL44 or any 95' Seagrave and you will see the difference in the body.
