Have to admire the guts of those doing the video work, those were definately not the safest neighborhoods around!

That area, as well as some others in NYC were nothing short of being in the middle of a War Zone. Things were totally out of control with no thoughts of ever returning to a civilized world again. I don't know how those trying to hold the place together did it. I don't mean the politicians. I mean those actually operating in those streets such as the NYPD, FDNY, and at the time "NYC EMS".
  And those working behind the walls of every local emergency room or hospital, the utility workers who had to post a guard so they don't loose their equipment or even their truck, the 911 dispatchers who worked non stop as the activity never let up.
  For the buffs, they took their lives in their own hands. Plus watching your vehicles and everything you had in them.
  When leaving that area, it was like they opened the gates and let you out.

These videos are simply amazing! I am having a hard time trying to convince myself that this was an everyday rule of thumb for the members of FDNY!

Nice to see FDNY's Squrt in action, here is Boston Engine 26. Theirs ran as the second piece, along with a 1971 Hahn.
