Washingron DC new rigs questions.

Apparently, Washington DC is trying to buy 18 new rigs for about 25 million. And there may be some issues with the order. Like the purchasing DC avoiding competitive bids and formerly working for the manufacturer. Apparently HME. City Council is now getting involved. Allegedly, the fd called around to see who had rigs for what price. And of course, one of the municipalities are saying they are the best thing since sliced bread, and the union is saying their unreliable and poorly designed. Would love to see how this pans out.

 
The union is correct HME - Aherns Fox is a low end builder. To my knowledge they do not build aerial pieces. Owned by the Atonne group who owns 13 other diverse companies that do not make fire apparatus - private equity/ venture capitalists. Interesting situation.

Watched a few videos on this. Yes this is incredibly shady. But they’re getting what they pay for, cheap garbage
