The Westbury Fire Department responded to a building fire at the Westbury Jeep & Dodge service facility at 110 State Street in New Cassel on Monday October 10, 2022 at 9:10 am. A car fire started in the garage service area. A mechanic suffered burns to his arm and was transported in a Nassau Police ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. No other injuries were reported. Fire was held to the area of origin due to the activation of the sprinkler fire suppression system. Firefighters extinguished and overhauled the car and vented the smoke from the building. Hicksville fire department responded to the scene to assist. The Nassau County Police and Nassau County Fire Marshal were on scene investigating the cause. Text courtesy Joe Sperber.
