Yonkers | Hillview Reservoir | FD on scene w/ a full HazMat response for a 3000 gallon tanker leaking chemicals.
Car 2 Assuming Command.
Battalion 2 Operations.
Battalion 1 Safety.

From the Yonkers Police Department:

"Due to a hazmat condition at the Hillview Reservoir residents between Hillview and King Avenues between Kimball Ave and McCollum Pl are being asked to shelter in place. There is NO threat to the public water supply. YFD is presently managing the hazmat condition, and residents are asked to avoid the area due to the street closures currently in place."

Description: Contractor accidently mixed chemicals

1118hrs- DEP reporting spill involving caustic soda with active leak downhill toward Kimball Ave
E307, 313, 306, 304, Squad 11, L73, 74, Rescue 1, B-2

1120hrs- YFD dispatching full Haz Mat response from Special Operations. YPS ESU, DEP PD enroute. PD Units to respond to DEP command post. DEP Aviation on site.

1126hrs- YFD Car 2 req units to stage at north entrance closest to the casino.

1133hrs- YPD to respond to Kimball Av from Hillview to McLean to shut down the area.

1148hrs- S/C E310

1153hrs- ESU rpts spill is contained to DEP property

1206hrs- FD rpts first entry team entering hot zone.

1211hrs- FD rpts (2) containment pools being deployed.

1214hrs- Car-2 is Command, B-2 Operations, B-1 Safety

1226hrs- CMD rpts first team is out of hot zone and entering decon. Second team entering with sampling equipment.

1306hrs- Second team entering decon.

1319hrs- Reserve L-76 in service at Station 7. E-316 will be running out of Station 1.
