These are great companies, great firefighters and great Chief's. I must state again that putting the FAST Truck to work for NONFAST fire duty is not a good idea. Chief's if you do not have units standing by ready to go to work and a FAST/Mayday! situation/s develops what do you do? I was often Acting Battalion Chief when I was captain of Engine 26 in Midtown Manhattan. A few legendary FDNY Chief's told me the same thing. "If you don't have anyone standing by you, ready to go to work you have already screwed up."" = "Call for help or transmit the next alarm BEFORE you need it." = "Never play catch up, the fire is going to catch you unprepared if you do."
