As it turns out, X10, X20 and X27 are all rescue medic units, replacing 12R, 20R and 27R. Though X20 and X27 were folded into XR3

My understanding is the only rescue medic not attached to a rescue company is X10, which is due to it being part of the original PRU program.

ALS RESCUE
Manhattan: XR1 X10
Bronx: XR3
Brooklyn: XR2
Queens: XR4
Richmond: XR5

So Rescue medics do not respond to any medical calls and only respond when the Rescue is assigned?

Is there a plan or an idea to eventually merge the EMS unit into the Rescue company? Or will they always just park outside and follow them around?

They responded with rescue or when special called, at fires they're only to treat critical patients and firefighters.

There is no talk of having them ride on the rigs, but XR1 and XR3 have been going inside the houses.

They also respond as an ALS unit to cardiac arrests if they are the closest ALS unit
