Could be up White Plains Road left on 240 that becomes McLean Ave then across

They may take E233 to the major Deegan and go south to van cortlandt park south exit, exit and go to broadway turn right and proceed north.

Gun Hill? Well, maybe, ...why not? As you say, a long run.
In ancient times the 52s never left Riverdale. I've noticed lately that they are now going into Wakefield so I guess the reverse is true also. Old maps used to have a Mosholu Avenue (not Parkway) cutting through Van cortlandt Park but I never could find it on the ground. Looked like it cut across the 8th fairway...

Unfortunately Gun Hill Road has seen lanes reduced to one in each direction from Webster up to Jerome plus heavy traffic bus volume with hospital also adding to traffic. Long ride under elevated train line from 233 to gun hill. Either way it’s a long ride, there was a time 52 engine was assigned to Woodlawn ahead of 81 using line of sight method, they drove down hill to get on Deegan when all 81 had to do was get on at 230 street and be on the way. It’s all been changed with BARB which still has many flaws but also did correct some odd assignments
