great video of tower ladders doing the job. Back in the fifties and sixties that job would have been  deuce and a half hand lines and Akron Multiversals. And of course we didn't have the 4.5 Scotts either. Those tower ladders, particularly in the following war years (the seventies and eighties) were a blessing.
Yeah, back in the 50's & 60's there were no tower ladders and only a few ladder cos. with ladderpipes (17, 19, 29, 42, 48). Also no Super Pumper or Satellites but some engine companies on this box (94, 73, 83,  had 2nd piece hose wagons with large McIntyre or Morse deck guns that put out lots of water.

Not to be picky: E 73 is listed on the box and the second alarm.

Thanks for pointing that out johnd248.  I do not like being inaccurate.  E-50 must have been the 3rd due, correction was made.

Hi Guitarman314. Yes, Hose wagons were common and yes they did have deck guns. Also the pumpers were equipped with them. The tips in most cases ran from 2-1/2, 2-3/4 and 3 inch. and the flows at 80 PSI were rated at 300, 500 and 750 GPM. In the sixties the Akron Multiversal came on the job and it could be used either on the pumper fixed or on a ground mount. If I remember correctly, we also had an evolution using it tied to a portable ladder for use in buildings to get water on the floor above. Again I say, God Bless the tower ladders. The greatest addition to the fire fighting arsenal.

18th Battalion 5th due B.C. ?

Probably could be 2nd due. Definitely closer than 14th, 17th and 26th. Especially if they jump on the Sheridan Expy to Hunts Point Ave.

TY, Once Again acepiolt, Great Work !

It Certainly was Helpful having that NYPD Box-Van Parked I.F.O. the Fire Bldg. the Entire Time !
( maybe they shouldda' Parked at a Bridge somewhere to keep Civilians Off the Superstructure !)  ;)

Anybody know what this PD truck was doing in front of the fire building?

Did they park there for the fire or was it just wrong place/wrong time.

What is  the ff battalion? Did they change the second alarm assignment to add a third battalion chief recently?

3 Battalion Chiefs assigned on 2nd alarm now.
3rd due on the 2nd alarm is designated for fire duty.

Apparently there was at least somebody in the NYPD van because you can see in part of the video that the lights were flashing on it!  Too bad it wasn't blocking a hydrant for the boys could've run a hose through it.  Probably NYPD wants to become firefighters now, they think they can do everything else!

The Nypd had this unit in area due to rise in shootings in neighborhood, it was hooked up to light pole for power and was unable to be moved, the Officer in van supposedly went to firehouse around corner with verbal for the fire. From video and pictures it doesn't look to have really obstructed our operations.

Thanks for the complete rundown Firephish.

Thanks for the video acepilot.
Thanks for all of your videos.  It is nice to see what I can only hear in Scranton, PA.
No problem, glad you enjoyed it, especially since you are so far away it helps you feel closer to the action.
