Popularity doesn't matter. No one gets to make a choice here. We, well us and DCAS write a bid and that bid must be legal and cannot favor one builder over another. Builders submit a bid and final design and the lowest price that meets the spec wins. Pierce didn't bid the engines or ladders. KME, Seagrave and Ferrara bid the recent engines and KME was the cheapest, so that's what we get.
There is no room for builder preference:
Meets the Spec + Lowest Price = Our new vehicle supplier.
Our ferrera is there gets us to runs and what not there's so many little problems that are wrong with it and what not. The suspension has gotten extremly soft and the rig sways side to side when we go down the street straight. There is no way this rig will last 10 years but I'm sure they will find a way for that to happen
Pierce did not bid on the engines or trucks because of the warranty requirements that we demand
