L32 was not the fast truck.
They were assigned fast truck

XCO tried to raise them over the air to advise them they were fast and were unable to do so

B-27 said they were on scene and would notify

Who ended up being fast?

04/14/2009, 2d alarm Box 3563, fire in taxpayer at 3099/3101 Bainbridge Ave. Same row of stores, though maybe not all connected by common cockloft.

And if I recall correctly, there was a similar problem with other boxes being out when this one came in. E88 10-84 ahead of E48 and stretched the 1st or 2d line into the building, then relinquished it to 48 (BN 18 courtesy). Other 1st alarm companies buzzing around the neighborhood or on G-man status.

Where is Sat 2.?

A 3rd alarmer and a 2nd alarmer that Engine 324 & Sat 4 attended. What gives?
Also long runs for Eng 80 to Engine 62 & Ladder 34 to Ladder 39
Tiller rig 34 to Tiller rig 39 is good for that area, should be more Tillers in Da Bronx for dis reason, plus not bad ride up the Deegan and across 233 St

And no 52 on any alarm??
Back in the Stone age of my youth, the 52s were a 1st alarm company only. They never left Riverdale for a multiple alarm. The ritzy taxpayers of Fieldston would not truck their feifdoms being uncovered by fire protection for any length of time. Perhaps BX dispatch has seen the wisdom of that policy in this instance. With 79, 62, 81, 48, 88, 75. etc., all out, that would leave Riverdale uncovered. Long runs for 95, 43 or before a relocator could get there. Made sense to leave the 52s at home.

No 75 engine here? Hard to believe companies like 42 & 63 are assigned before them. Practically a straight shot for them up the concourse.
Also, interesting how 88 ended up being first due engine here while 38 isn't assigned until the 3rd
E88 closer than E38. Do the mileage.

My attempt to wrap this up...

Box 3549, Van Cortlandt Avenue East and Rochambeau Avenue transmitted at 0343 hrs. Es 79 62 48 81, Ls 37, 32. 56 is the normal assignment. Smoke in the building. Units can not find the source. Looks like 48/56 not available.

Eleven mins later, Box 3563, Bainbridge at 204th St, transmitted for gas detector. Next up should be 48, 88, 75, 46, Ls 56 38, but BXD gives only 2 and 2 assignment with so many companies within a couple of blocks if eachother. Es48, 75 not available but L56 now in service, assigned with Es 88, 46, L39. L56 gives 10-75. E88 10-84.

Somewhere in here BN 27 realizes their smoke condition source is on Bainbridge Ave, which runs parallel to Rochambeau. Es79, 62, 81, Ls 37, 32 reassigned to Box 3563, where 88/56 already operating. L32 now the FAST Truck. Upon request BN 27 reports 79, 62, 88, 81 operating.

And the rest as reported on this thread...

Just my guess.

With the new policy of sending relocators to fires rather than using alarm assignment cards The 52’s unless on initial alarm or if a rapid second alarm is transmitted in nearby area, won’t be sent to many multiples. Once relocated company is in area and are closer to fire they will be sent. Many of the 3rd and 4th alarm companies on this particular fire were relocators.

I mis-interpreted E38 rather than L38. My bad. You are correct. Notice L39 assigned before Ls 38 and 33, which leads me to believe that there was something more than just a 10-99 going on down in Fordham. It jumbled the usual response patterns to Norwood.
