December 19, 1981 - LODD of FF Dennis Peterson of Ladder 80
On 12/19/81, FF Peterson responded to an apartment fire on Van Pelt Avenue, Staten Island. During operations, FF Peterson made entry into the apartment and rescued a 22 yo man. FF Peterson then went back in and rescued a 9 yo child from the attic.
Moments after exiting the structure, FF Petersom collapsed. The first FF to run to him was his father, FF Daniel Peterson, Ladder 83. The younger Peterson died in his fathers arms. He left behind a wife, two children. He was 36 yo.
