The Batt. aide, either through his own untrained initiative, or the directions of the chief - gives 3 exposures as alleys?

EXP. 2 - a 2 story 20 x50 dwelling separated by a 6 ft driveway
EXP. 4 - Elder Ave. Grocery, part of a 1 story 100x100 taxpayer separated by a 5 ft. alleyway.
The PD's on Boynton Ave. are only about 15 ft. away which would make them EXP. 3

Alleys and driveways are NOT exposures! Anything within 30 ft. unless they changed the communications manual, is a exposure.

The aerial photo speaks for itself.
When are they going to come out with a Battalion firefighter manual if they won't take the time to properly train them either in house or at the Rock?

I don’t want to speak for anyone but I do know it was not the normal aide

They give exposures as alleys, streets, driveways, etc. all the time.... so I would find it hard to believe that they are wrong in that.

The only thing aides get is the piece of paper they are supposed to fill in and read…. That’s why most reports sound the same….

Your idea of a Manual for Battalion Aide is a valuable idea. The Aide has to give precise information and progress reports as well instances where the Aide is more than just a communication relay. More aspects to the job than just ‘Office work’.

Totally agree; but in listening to the radio for the past few months, it's apparent that there are many "one day wonders" driving chiefs. From what I've heard, there is supposedly a shortage of permanent battalion firefighters. These fill-ins are doing the best they can in relation to their own personal knowledge and experience, which in many cases is - none.
They are taking piecemeal what the chief is giving to them and rebroadcasting it in the way they perceive the information should be transmitted. There should be a reference manual in the office and an abbreviated version in the car to help these guys out and to help to give accurate, concise information to the dispatcher.

Valid point. But why is it so vital to provide exposure details to dispatch? nevermind that they can easily look it up on the map in most cases.
