Hoping that a suicide victim suffers is messed up. Suicide is no joke!

YES a shame that an individual resorted to that ....nothing but Prayers should be the end result if the outcome cannot be changed by us.....we many times risk our lives to save those who choose to take their own life that we value so much but if we can't save them we can only Pray for them not condemn them...i have been involved in many 1st Due hands on suicide situations some of which depending on the age or the underlying reason where beyond understanding & i myself always said i would live on cardboard in a doorway in freezing weather before i took my life but i never walked a block in the other persons shoes or mind so who would anybody be to castigate someone especially because the train was delayed ?

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem! I am trying to get my arms around what could go so wrong for a 15 year old to where that is the only solution. It seems that we are losing our compassion for our fellow man.

As a high school teacher I can tell you that suicide is attempted a lot more than is reported in the media.  Many suicide attempts are cries for help:  I wonder if the 15 year old was hoping to be saved and unfortunately it did not happen.  We have almost become steeled to the idea of both self-inflicted death and death inflicted by others by how often we are subjected to them.  This is why my brothers and sisters who are a part of public service give me perpetual hope:  because a teacher, a firefighter, a police officer, an E.M.T., or a Paramedic - most of us will never give up on trying to save a human being, no matter how bad humanity as a whole gets.
