Store was NOT closed.
I wondered the same thing when I saw that stated in the news.

Excellent rundown as usual. E71 not on 3rd alm though, they went 10-99 on a ems run (box 2307) 5 minutes after 3rd alm transmitted. More than likely a relocating/acting engine instead. Listening to both manhattan & bronx it was 10-33 central. Definitely tough feeling in some of the gaps. Once again great report & rundown

Might've been just 3 engines on the 3rd than since they already s/c called an engine (E-43) above the 2nd and haven't called for a "full" 3rd alarm assignment.
I believe you are correct I forgot they got the extra engine on 2nd. Looks like they got the balance of 3rd alm 3 engine no trucks

Ladder 121, what a trip for them
Other relatively nearby units never made the initial run down for the 5 alarms, i.e., Es 81, 79, 48, 88. Out elsewhere or bumped by incoming relocators?

Wonder about why no satellite is deployed at that large fires. It comes at 2nd alarm but is rarely seen in action.

... if nothing else they could get some practice with it on an actual fire ... and even the Super once it is put in service .

What ever happened to the "New" Super Pumper? I worked often in Satellite 1 as a young, Firefighter and just one Satellite monitor, supplied by regular Engine Companies put out a lot of water. When the Satellites were supplied by the "Old' Super Pumper 1" or by a Fireboat the ability to reduce major fires was something to see. Chicago FD has their large output deluge units, as does L.A. what is FDNY waiting for another "Bushwick is Burning" or a "West 43 St. 10th Alarm" before putting the 6 Satellites to good use? I fought a few very major fires and both the major conflagrations, fires above, it is only a matter of time, till the next conflagration. I've seen it before. I was appointed to the FDNY on January 27, 1973, so I've been around long enough to know. I am still an active Past Captain in the Chester N.Y. Fire Dept.
Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
