Eight row houses? Wow seems like those just catch on to each other if they get going

The problem was they were porch fronts. Once the fire starts to roll under them you have a bigger problem. The porch roofs are make of wood without any fire stops between the dwellings. There's a lot of these type dwellings in Philly. The first in company was right around the corner so this must have been rolling when they pulled up. I made a lot of these type jobs.
 
Yea i have noticed a lot of these types in Philly and Baltimore especially. Must have been going real good.

The nearest fire station, Engine 40, Ladder 4, Medic 19 is less than a block away at 65th Street & Woodland Avenue.    Engine 40 was on another assignment and not available for the initial dispatch. 
The second due engine, Engine 68, is over 13 blocks away on 52nd Street south of Baltimore Avenue.  The initial dispatch was a single engine response for a rubbish fire.  It was upgraded to a full box ( 4 engines, 2, ladders, 2  chiefs) based on the calls before the engine arrived.  Ladder 4 from the station less than a block away arrived first and gave the first in report.  The audio is on Philly Fire News . Amazing that all the adults managed to get out. The scumb bag dirt ball welfare cheating residents of phila all think there being deprived because no one cares about them. Well most of the fires in big cities happen to be in these type neighborhoods. There's more fire protection in those hoods than the areas where the only tax paying people live. Any phila firefighter knows the members who made that job tried their best but sometimes these things happen. I better go check my bp,,this type shit pisses me off to no end as I've seen guys do some amazing things when I was still working and not a single one of them got any credit because as we all thought,,,hey it's my job.
 
Many times on the site the actual assignment is different from the "norm" due to many reasons, the fact that Pipeline 40 was on a car fire run is unfortunate but that's what happens in all departments, if this was FDNY the truck would have also been out on the car fire, imagine the delays then. Hopefully some cooler heads prevail in Philly and the members are not subjected to anymore troubles. We can't control what, when or where we are assigned on boxes we just respond as called, like I said read the fires posted here and how often units are out on other boxes and miss or become delayed into fires.
