Monday will be the 40th anniversary of the Chelsea conflagration. Original box was transmitted at 1602, Boston sent Engine Companies 50 11 10 8 39 21 20 34 14 48 and Ladder Companies 15 11 8 and , along with 3 chief officers. Some of these relocations were hard to figure, E-48 from Rosindale, E-34 from Brighton. Took this job in, there was enough fire for  everyone. I think the time is wrong though, think it was earlier, like 1400 or so, 2PM for the non-military!

WOW ! 40 years ago. I was a Volunteer Firefighter in Fairfield, Ct at the time, hoping they would call for us 175 miles away. No such luck.

For me not only was it 40 years ago, but about a hundred pounds ago too.

I am somewhat familiar with the Boston/Chelsea area. Was there ever a list put out of the companies that responded ?

Grew up in Boston, I do not recognize some of the towns/cities that responded. I guess doing a Mapquest from those towns to Chelsea is something I might try later.

At the Boston Sparks Assoc. monthly meeting last week there were a few guys there with pictures and stories of the fire. It was very interesting to hear stories and see the pictures.

Was a member. Some asshole mis guided person destroyed our quarters. I made several models that were destroyed, along with our quarters. Buffed with the best of the best. You buffed the best went to "Whip City'. Assholes just screwed us and our devotion to the job! Hope jail sent you the defeniton of first due. Your butt, not mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
