I believe a 10-41 Code 1 was also given for this Box.
I'm surprised people still use 10-41 over the air instead of just saying "Requesting Fire Marshals on location" Because I usually hear the latter more.

Remember that the staff chief, either the Boro Commander or the Citywide Duty chief can respond on either the second alarm or the third alarm. This is up to them. If the Boro Commander was not the previous, off going, citywide commander, most likely the two chiefs spoke & a decision was made who was going to handle the incident. Could they both respond - YES!

Why does the Messenger Van respond on alarms?

A tip of the helmet goes to Car 10 for ordering a head of time a third alarm before arriving on scene. The companies were directed to proceed to the staging area. Since the incident was located in the North Bronx, very close to the city line, most of the companies would have a long ride when needed. This way they were on the way when directed to report into the command post.
Start them out, they can always be returned.

Video from NYC Buff (recently posted on YouTube)

That's a great video from beginning to end. Very concise.

As a native of the North Bronx whose father worked in L14 ...14 never seen north of 149th Street in years past.

A dumb question, but what route would 14 take to relocate to L51? Deegan into 233rd? Bruckner to Bronx River Parkway? Local streets, like 3d Ave? Just curious.

If I Had To Guess... I Would Say.. RFK Bridge.. To Bruckner Expressway.. Keep Going All The Way Up To Exit 12 (I Believe) From 95.. Than Local Streets.

Thanks. Your guess is good as mine, but a long haul whichever way.
