I remember Joe when I worked, as a fireman, on the Lower East Side in L-11 & TL-18. A good fireman and good guy. I was at the 1975 '"Ma Bell" N.Y. Telephone fire. One of the smokiest, hottest firers I had in almost 30 years with the FDNY. About 1/3 of the Firemen at that fire came down from cancers as a direct result of that fire, and many died. Met Tom when I did a vacation or two in 108, a real nice guy/gentleman & we had a mutual acquaintance. My old Lieut in 114 was Dan Marshall, who became the Capt. of 43 truck & Tom was his Lt. Marshall was also a firefighter in 108 before getting promoted to Lt.
Rest In Peace, Tom.🙏

Joe & I were appointed on 9-14-68 & graduated proby school on 10-26-68 & we were assigned to adjoining Williamsburg FHs....Joe to 104 & me to 108....in March of 1972 we were in the same Chauffeur School class on Welfare Island......later I was in R*2 & Joe was in R*4.....in Joe's Obituary it talks of Joe's love of Dog's....in our 1972 Chauf school photo ( taken by RET BC Bob Checco ..then a LT in the school) ...Joe is pictured holding the FDNY Training School Mascot........

Jack, it is always sad to hear another brother firefighter passes, but more so when he is from our proby class. Rest in Peace my brother, a job well done. Your dogs will be glad to see you again.

^^^ Very true Tom........also in the Chauf School photo are two more of our proby Classmates Steve Cadette & Joe Callahan..neither of the two are with us anymore.
