One of the reasons that the movie Ladder 49 was set and filmed in Baltimore was due to the extensive amount of vacant dwellings that the studio could burn for scenes in the movie. Apparently, it would cost less than burning vacants in New York or Chicago.nfd2004 said:Riding Amtrack from the north, parts of Baltimore looks alot like Bushwick did in the late 1970s. Today, even places like Newark and Philly don't look as bad. There are blocks and blocks of burned out row frames. A few burned out factories and old schools. The Baltimore FD looks to me that they are catching their share of work.
