Thanks Mike for those pictures. I remember when that fire happened too. As a kid in high school, that's what I wanted to do. "Fight big fires like that".
Those pictures are great Mike. That is long before digital cameras were thought of. Film had to be put into a camera and never knowing how good they came out. You could take 12, 24, or 36 pictures depending on the film you bought. After that, you had to reload and start over. Then you had to get it developed, hoping those pictures came out good. They did, and you were there to preserve that history for all of us.
That Boston area and the surrounding cities would have some major fires over the years. Later came the conflagrations in Chelsea and Lynn, Mass. Where blocks of wood frame buildings burned.
