350-360 Hanover St., West Side.

12:50hrs. - FC1 reporting heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor "D" side of a 3-frame OMD extending to exposures on the "B" and "D" sides. Engine 4 o/s hooking up big at Norman St. and Hanover St. Engine 12 S/C, assigned to supply Tower Ladder 5.

12:54hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting (2) 3-frame OMD's involved. Battalion 1 has command. Engine 12 reassigned as R.I.T.

13:08hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting fire through the roof of (2) 3-frame OMD's.

13:17hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting main fire building collapsed, heavy fire in exposure 3-frame OMD's on the "B" and "D" sides.

13:26hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting 1 L/S/O in the "B" exposure and master streams in operation.

13:51hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting (4) 3-frame OMD's involved, w/2 buildings collapsed.

14:25hrs. - Battalion 1 reporting bulk of fire is k/d. Companies chasing hot spots.

As per the you tube video, E 6 was dispatched as RIT but then laid in from a hydrant to supply Tower Ladder 5.  E 12 which had been s/c to supply TL 5 then became the RIT.  Amazing they were able to hold it with the assignment they had.
 
Some changes made in the rundown to reflect the radio audio. The BFD did an outstanding job. This makes the 11th working fire for the month for the city. I think they had a similar fire involving multiple structures on the same block a few years back.

  Emmett, "fdny1075k", I think the job you might be referring to was several years ago. The job you are referring to might have been the one at Columbia and Ridge in the south end.  I think, 10 buildings were going. There was a problem with vandalized hydrants in the area which delayed getting water on the fire.

  The boss at that fire was Battalion 1, Chief Billy Haug. It was his last night before retirement and he was known for being the kind of guy that loved doing the job. So for him, as far as he was concerned, his unofficial retirement party was held that night at Columbia and Ridge, when half the block was on fire. 

  What amazes me about this Hanover St fire is that they only used 4 Engines, with a fifth engine as RIT, 2 trucks, and 1 Rescue.

Yes, Bill thank you. That's the job I was thinking of. That must have been one great sendoff for Chief Haug.

It's incredible they held it with what they had, I thought for sure it would go to a 2nd Alarm (Signal 30) with the amount of fire they had and the exposure problems. I actually saw the header from this fire all the way down in Stamford.

The BFD has sure been catching a lot of action this month.
