Today Chicago endured its third straight day of 100+ temps and we may get a fourth tomorrow. During this heat wave any report on a fire such as: smoke showing or fire showing, no matter how "trivial" the incident is automatically upgraded to a "still and box", 4 engines, 3 trucks, one a tower, the squad, comm van. In addition the city has placed 10 "heat ambulances" these are numbered in the high 60's and the 70 series. These are also used for special events, such as Taste of Chicago, the Marathorn. This is station IHOT, current temp is 103. GG

Wow!

Try and stay cool Chicago's Bravest.

By the way, Grump, how many Chiefs go on a Still and Box? 4?

3 Battalions chiefs, 1 District  Chief  2-2-1 through 2-2-6. On a high-rise S/B you get more B/C, attack chief, stairway chief, plans chief, etc, all in addition to the RIT Chief. More white coats than black/bunker gear coats!!!!!

More Chiefs than Indians. ;D

"Cold front" came through yesterday around 2 PM, temp dropped 20 degrees in 90 minutes. Kudos to all in the Chicagoland area for a job well done. You think we will remember this in January with wind chill of -30, actual temp of -2? Personally I can always put more clothes on than take off, me in a speedo is a sight you want to AVOID!!!!
