In this photo Carlo B. was assigned to Engine 269. He was transferred to E-269 when Engine 2 was closed.
Three years later he was transferred to Ladder 119 when Engine 269 was closed.
Was L-119 afraid he was a jinx?
He eventually transferred to Ladder 79 and made lieutenant.

What did Rapid Water mean?
It was a solution put into the water in the rigs that supposedly cut down on the friction to make the water go thru the hoses better.
