Does anybody have photos of Ladder 44 during the 60s to the 80s? If so, please post them.
L44 wasn't that busy during the 60's as their first-due area was one of the most desireable places to live in NYC. They picked up during the 70's when Co-op City opened up and there was a mass exodus from western Grand Concourse, Morrisania, Mt. Eden, and Mt. Hope sections. L44 had a 1940 Ahrens-Fox 85 ft. wood stick until 1962 when it was replaced with a reassigned 1953 ALF 85 ft. (ex-L129) rig. In 1969 they got a Mack C Tower Ladder and then the rest is FDNY history.E82L31B27 said:Does anybody have photos of Ladder 44 during the 60s to the 80s? If so, please post them.
