Frigid Firefighting

Vintage FDNY photo @ 1970
Location: Bay 14 Street, Brooklyn, NYC, NY
Alarms: 4

Fire burned the entire row of two story, attached, private dwellings on Bay 14 Street, on this frigid winter day. Pictured in the foreground is Tower Ladder 105, (I believe the first in Brooklyn.) The Tower Ladder in the background is from Manhattan. Super Pumper Satellite 1 is operating in front of the fire buildings. Note the plywood covering over the truck company's cab and tiller. These were put in place to protect the firefighters from bullets (useless) and thrown objects (useful). As per Bob Dylan: "The times, they are a changin'"
