Yesterday marked 6 years ago that Lt Vigiano was called home. A humble man with an incredible legacy of service to his country (USMC) and to the people of New York City. An incredible fireman and officer who made a positive difference in many peoples lives and careers. A role model of an officer and leader. Despite losing his two sons on 9/11, he still continued to be a role model and help others. Thanks for all you did for all of us. Continue to rest easy.

May John & his Sons John & Joe Continue To Rest In Peace.....

Drove John Sr. for 9 of my 10 yrs in R*2.....Great Times. ......John's Grandson's continue in both Military & Public Service. ....A Great Family dealt a tough hand.
Chief are any of his grandsons on the FDNY?

Captain John Vigiano who had spent years as a Lieutenant in Brooklyn's Rescue 2, helped develop an excellent auto extrication program called "Project S.A.V.E. = Swift Advanced Vehicle Extrication. S.A.V.E. included class work and then extrication hands on problem solving, wrecked vehicles were obtained and then smashed in, turned over and crushed in with a Backhoe or Front-end loader, with an extrication dummy/s "trapped" inside.
A great practice in extrication that was always different each time it was done. I still have the Pin & Patch; I received after passing Capt. Vig's SAVE course. John was truly one of the greats in the FDNY. Sadly, both his sons one FDNY the other NYPD ESU were killed on 9/11/01 at the World Trade Center attack. "Never Forget" Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired
