Truck Assignments by Type

last 95 footer here on S.I. was the 2002 assigned to TL85, has since bounced around to the rock and 12 truck and then i think back to the rock. The thing had no end of problems. They're currently running with 84's old 75 footer. From what I hear they beleive theyre gonna stick with 75s for now. They don't believe theres any use for them to have anything bigger and im inclined to agree. If anyone would be good to have one, it'd be 77, though i'm not sure the house can handle it, but with the amount of floor refurbs they've been doing, who knows...

I know im new here and this is an old topic but this is related the topic of the tiller ladder, was ladder 109 (3rd ave express) a tiller ladder cause my dad was debating it with me cause he said he remembered his uncle serving in that company and was the back chauffeur.

Certainly possible because up to a certain point in the '60s ALL FDNY LADs were Tiller rigs.

To go along with the Chief I think the only trucks that never had tillers were newly established TL 160 and Ladder 133

A few Bronx trucks L58 which was originally L-27(2) never a tiller, L-61 in coop city I also think has been a rearmount from onset. L-55,56 & 59 I believe all had tillers at some point.

LAD*1 got the first TL in '64/'65 ... also the two 144 Ft Mack Magirus Rigs were not Tillers however prior to these (early to mid sixties) ALL LADs in operation then were Tillers but yes after the mid '60s there were a few organized that never had a Tiller.

Just a bit off the subject, but, does anyone know if L130 was the first "owner" of their 1955 FWD 75' wooden TDA?  The Reg. # was 392 I believe.

L 59 was a tiller until sometime in the 80's.  When they received a RM, L 39 then became "The Busiest Tiller in the Bronx".

  L-61 had a 1968 ALF tiller eg.#489 (ex-L17, L16, L175) ;)

Yes L130 had that truck from begining to end as it was not reassigned to another co. after L130. Around 1972 to '74 they had a 1962 ALF reg.#458 (ex L12) then got a 1969 ALF reg#AP6905 (ex-L31, L175) in 1974. ;)

L55 & 56 started out with 1959-60 Macks then went to rearmounts. L59 started out with a Seagrave rearmount but did get a 1980 Seagrave tiller (#SL8031) in 1981 which only lasted until 1985 when it was replaced with a 1984 Seagrave rearmount and the tiller was reassigned to the Training School. ;)

  Got more info: L55 had a 1960 Mack C #434 (ex-L45, L14). L56 had a 1959 Mack C #428 (ex-L151) then got a 1963 Seagrave tiller #478 (ex-L24).

Tiller/rear mount data please and thank you kindly??
Where I'm from we only use Sutphen 95' mid mount tower ladders w/1 135' e-one rma assigned to our rescue company. The county use a mix of rear and mid mount design s but no tda's unfortunately.??
