Engine 162 went into service December 20, 1928 in a new firehouse at 256 Nelson Avenue.  They were assigned  a new 1928 ALF 2nd size pumper.  That would probably be the apparatus involved in the 1934 Hylan Boulevard accident, about 3 blocks from quarters:

They ran with that 1928 American LaFrance Type 75 700gpm pumper until 1947, when they were assigned a new 1947 American LaFrance "bathtub" pumper. They also had a 1929 Seagrave hosewagon for many years.

Interesting info about 162. Mack, any chance you can do a History in Firehouse History thread of 162/82/23 or 282/148?
