This is what happens when we don't interrogate the caller, you're going to get minor stuff blown out of proportion.

I am a former Boston buff who moved to Chicago 30 years ago. FD dispatchers should answer/screen FD calls, PD should do likewise. You lose the "human info" with a unified caller. They do not really have a feel for the situation, either FD or PD. Jusy my two cents worth. A good dispathcer can really paint the scene for arriving companies

Been getting a lot of interesting overreactions lately, like a HazMat response being sent out last night for a gas leak because the caller complained about "odors."

The same thing happened two times today.

Just right know Ladder 170 asked Brooklyn if they were responding to a Hazmet incident because that was on the ticket but its actually a oder of gas ??? ??? This is gonna be hell.

Can't the DD or the SFAD call back the dipsticks at 911...and speak to the Unified Call Scrambler... to clarify this nonsense before releasing the alarm?

The number of "Unknown HazMat Condition" calls I've heard in the last few days that have turned out to be gas leaks is probably a sign.

On the upside HazMat gets to prop their run stats some.  ;D
