The assignment and second alarm was off, due to companies out of service(TL75 @ Shops for changeover. Etc) and another full assignment put out after the 10-30 was given for a dryer fire in a PD across town...
When second alarm was Xmitted, due to difficulty in finding seat of fire, all that was available to send was E308. At that point the city had NO companies available.

Willie, no on that. It took 20 or so minutes to free up units from that dryer fire, then an engine was sent to the 2nd alarm from that scene.

Thanks Jamie. 20 minutes is a long time to wait if somebody needs help or the fire is extending.

Sounds like the war years in the Bronx. Ask for a second alarm get maybe an engine and 2 trucks if lucky.

"11:29hrs- B-1 advised E-308 only unit available"........Not to beat a dead horse but, pretty dangerous situtation for a city like Yonkers. And as I understand it, Yonkers can't count on Mt Vernon (which borders the city) because they have their own manning issues. I guess when they closed companies in Yonkers, they never thought about two fires at the same time.
