You live on a very steep hill so they were probably making sure it could make the climb up to Grymes Hill. ;)

that would explain why 77's old truck just drove by. im no expert but the new 77 climbed the hill pretty well

Ladder 153 was out on a test drive on Rt 18 today. Too bad I couldn't get the camera out in time. I did go by the dealer and there is a lot of FDNY Marauder II stuff there. Has to be almost 10-12 towers. Ladder 13 is one of them parked on the lot.

On a side note 114 was there for service again along with one which I couldn't make out the number. The third watch engine is sitting on their lot and still has some graffiti on it.

Quick note: 41 had to be one of the most recent to hit the dealer. It still had paper covering the FDNY, patch, and word "FIRE"

The word "FIRE" has been changed with "FDNY" on the side of all the new rigs. Plus Engine 314 had it done to their rig

they have been doing that gradually over the past 2 or 3 years. Ladder 77's 1998 rig has FDNY instead of FIRE.

Also all the NEW B/C's GMC's have FDNY instead of FIRE. Although B/C 22 has "Chief 22nd Battalion" instead of FDNY

Wow I never realized that. Thanks for posting that. I guess that would explain why that is covered up now upon delivery.

I dont know how to copy and paste old posts into mine, but someone said that 142 had problems with its rear axles and was sent back, and I think 314 had bad motor mounts.  I dont get how Seagrave builds these rigs and they almost always have things go wrong right away.  Is it any wonder that the FDNY has gone in another direction with the new rearmounts?

Things like rear axles and motor mounts are components manufactured by other companies and installed on the Seagrave chassis...Seagrave does not actually make their own axles, engines, hydralic pumps, etc.  So unless the problem was caused by faulty installation, I think you have to cut Seagrave a break on this one.

i think FDNY went in another direction with the rearmounts purely on money, i doubt there was any other motivation, if seagrave could undercut ferrara, and did so, we would be looking at Seagrave again for the rearmounts, thats my thoughts anyways.

That's a throw back to the chiefs cars in the 80's.

The department is bound to have issues with some. As for the engines, I know 43 was back at the dealer for work. I got to see it on route 18 and it definitely made my morning! They sure did some customization with it. Engine 160 had an issue with a valve or seal. I forget exactly, but one morning they came down to find a flood on the apparatus floor.

Hey, what do you expect, perfection? ??? Those pumpers only cost a little over a 1/2 million and the towers cost more than 1 million. ;)

I'm saying that there are thousands of parts on each pumper and the fact that there are about 70 pumpers, the laws of probability state that a few of them have to have something go wrong. Trust me, I think perfection should be expected and I am unhappy to see so many coming back to the dealer.

After all, there is a warranty period.
