75' Tower Ladders

True, true!! But if not mistaken I believe their are several Co's out there running around with "member added" siren's. You would be an ass to throw away, a 3 grand piece of equipment. Heard SQ288, SQ18,R4,L35,L4 has to take their's off before goes to the Shops, so its not "stolen".
Held in by t bolts that are undone and the main feed to the foot pedal is discounected. I also heard the Officer of the Company can face charges for allopwing the use of non Approved Dept Siren. (Guess makes sense). I can't say for sure if all of those Co's still have the Real Q.

That god awful sound is the operator manipulating the manual button and the brake that comes on the federal E-Q2 siren. Playtime in the officer seat!

Heard it today, sounded like they were doing a yelp noise, then switched it over to the wail.

Three are now in service. Ladders 46, 138, and now Ladder 21. It is sad to see the 1997 is gone, but it should have never been returned to front line service.

I found the following information in the FDNY Operational Reference July 09

1997 units:    Ladders 138, 124, 21, 46,  Spare

1998 units:    Ladders 23, 50 77, 35, 142, 153

1999 units:    Ladders 15, 31, 146, 162, 41

2000 units:    Ladders 13, 22, 76, 86, 87,159, 157, 135, BOT

Order of replacement at that time was  BOT, 138, 46, 21, 124, 142, 50, 77, 23, 35, 153, 162, 31, 15, 41, 146, 76,`13, 22, 135, 159, 86

This is the order of replacement. It is on the second page of this thread!

The above post regarding Tower Ladder 124 is not correct.  Only three of the new Seagrave 2010 TLs are in first line service:  Ladder 46 on 5/12/2010, Ladder 138 on 5/18, and Ladder 21 on 5/26. Ladder 124 will be the next one, however is not in service as of 5/27/2010. It will be followed by Ladder 142.

My post earlier today advised the new TL 124 was not yet in service.  I can now report that it went into service late this afternoon.

The nitpicker in me doesn't like the font on the ladder board. ;)

Hopefully they'll slam out a good looking one soon

They'll probably take the "TONKA TRUCK" board off their old rig. ;)

Is it the same size? I thought the 1997 Arielscopes had taller boards than the newer trucks.

TL 21 is now OOS, broken air con i think.

If only they could bring back those War Year Mack Tower Ladders. Even when they became Reserves, they just wouldn't die. But then again, they didn't have any air conditioning units to break down either.
