BCR in your reply # 17 above you state "there was never a total recall issued before in the history of the FDNY".....i do not think that is correct....prior to the beginning of the '70s before OT was paid for additional hrs or time spent working after the end of a regular tour  recalls were often called for snow storms hurricanes etc...when the almighty $ came into  play the City seriously cut back on calling them...... the last total recall was the '77 Blackout the rest after that were partial recalls of certain group #s or holdovers of certain groups going off.....during the '06 Blackout bloombag went on news radio stations several times that evening & stated that "ALL FDNY & NYPD were recalled "...i do not know about NYPD but the FDNY issued no recall from home at all for this.....some who did hear the news report & were unable to verify it did show up at work though.
You are probaly right, I thought I had heard on the news after the 11th that the fdny had only recalled a tour at a time not the whole dept. however as we all know the news usually does not have it right and the politicians giving the info are usually even more off. Some politicians interpretation of a total recall is just a hold over of personnel for a couple hours. It was a hectic day and the fdny handled it with the utmost pride and tradition of putting the civilians first. All gave some some gave all. Thanks for the clarification and your service 68jk09

Do You Have A Run down for Box 50 which Cheif Barbara Transmitted (2nd Alarm)

There might have been a total recall for the morning of the strike. Everyone received a call to report that morning. Not many made it past the apparatus doors.

For Box 5-5-8087 all i got so far Is Engine 10 (Calls 10-60) 6, 4 (Never Transmits Went On Verbal Im Guessing) 7 (Verbal/Witness) Ladder 10 (First Due) Ladder 15 (Goes To South Tower With Battalion 7) Ladder 1 (Verbal). SQ18, Rescue 1, Rescue 2 (Verbal) Rescue 3 With Collapse Unit (10-60) Rescue 4 (Verbal) Rescue 5 (Acting R1- S/C) HazMat 1 (10-60 Goes To South Tower) Squad 1 (10-60 Never Transmits Goes To South Tower) Engine 9 (Verbal) Ladder 6 (Witness/Verbal/5th Alarm) Ladder 9 (5th Alarm) Ladder 18 (5th Alarm) Engines 1, 34, 65, 226, 207, 21 (5th Alarm) Engine 54 (5th Alarm, Reports To South Tower) Squad 288 (Verbal) Squad 252 With Second Piece (Verbal). Thats What I Got Off Of The Radio and The Ladder 18 WTC Page Which Has The 5th Alarm Rundown Only. whoever Has A Full Rundown That Would Be Great

The Blizzard of 1947 was a total recall. I believe that was the last one before 9 11.

There were some total recalls for hurricanes as well as other snowstorms in the  '40s &'50s.

On the brooklyn tapes after the first hit a second alarm was transmitted and staged at the entrance to the tunnel. This whole alarm was sent into the WTC. Not sure when or what alarm, however it was early on

  WHAT ?????????????????????????????????????

I don't remember any Total Recall for hurricanes in the 1950s. My dad was on the job back then and that didn't happen. Perhaps for certain companies but not a Total Recall. Unless of course I don't have total recall. (Possible.) But this is getting off the track of this thread, 9/11 Responses.

Box
2977 RYDER AVE at E 5 ST Brooklyn

I rember one total recall in particular for a Hurricane in 1951 .....we lived in Manhattan LES & had a serious Fire on the top floor of our bldg the two days before...LAD*3 had cut a large hole in the roof then afterwards the hole was covered w/a tarp....the day of the Hurricane while my Father was at work due to the recall the wind ripped the tarp off &  i remember the water pouring down the interior stairs like a waterfall ....my Grandmother had owned the bldg & willed it to my Father.....we  really got screwed on the insurance because even though there was a lot of water damage from the Fire (both hoseline & sprinkler) the insurance company ruled that most of the damage was an act of God from the hurricane & our family took a beating .

Correct me if I'm wrong - but didn't B/C 1 transmit a 3rd Alarm while still enroute?

I just listened to that tape today [Again..], He transmitted a 2nd En-Route. and 3rd Upon Arrival.

I have been listening to the Brooklyn tapes and have come up with the following with more to come.

Box 1377 was transmitted by Brooklyn CO as a staging area at the entrance to the Battery tunnel.
The units assigned to this box 1377 initially are:
E202
L101
E204
L131
SQ1
48BN
E224
E239
E210
L122
L105
L132
40BN
11DIV
These units went in on the 5th alarm into 2WTC.

Also there were;
6 engines
6 trucks
3 chiefs that were staging at the mid town tunnel. No units were identified and what happened to them is unknown. This info comes from a patch that was on the Brooklyn tape between 9charlie and 9david.

I am working on more as there were more units sent into box 1377 to stage after the first group of units were sent into 2WTC.
