VINTAGE FDNY RIG PHOTOS.

Love the color picture of the FDNY Water Tower. I was born in 1946 and one of my first, memories was a Lumber Yard fire across the street from our home. At that time my family lived on Brooklyn Ave. Brooklyn, right next to the Long Island RR "Bay Ridge Cut" I remember two things about the fire. One was the large chrome silver ball. on what I now know was an Ahearn's Fox Pumper, hooked up to the hydrant in front of my parent's house. The other was looking down from the corner of Brooklyn Ave. and Ave. H and seeing a FDNY Water Tower operating at the fire. Does anyone know what year that Lumber Yard Fire Was? Most likely the Box was 2419 and I am sure it was a big multiple alarm. I was very young at the time so perhaps it was in the early 1950s. Maybe seeing that fire caused me to always want to be a "Firemen". Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.
