The rig looks like a 1938 FWD 85 footer and the doorway & lamp looks like a Mayor Walker firehouse so I believe it's Ladder 18 across the street from their firehouse at 185 Broome St.

That was my first thought if in fact it was taken on the Lower East Side....if it was LAD*18 that would be Suffolk St intersecting to the left....this was the latest occupancy there.... http://www.thelodownny.com/leslog/tag/185-broome-street ....in April of this year a demolition permit was issued & this was the end of the former QTRS of LAD*18 ..ENG*17 & BN*4..... http://www.boweryboogie.com/2015/05/the-decades-old-broome-street-firehouse-is-now-a-pile-of-rubble/ ....if you look at the e bay photo the address on the store window between the Tiller seat & the Tiller windshield look like 190 however going by the photo in this next link (scroll to "Airing The Bedrooms On a Sunday" photo) the text says that it is 190 or 192 Broome St but the Fire escape does not seem to match the e bay photo & the store sign is different ?..... http://dinosnycpics.com/?page_id=139 .....i would still agree w/G Man though.

1-23-16 just before midnight SOD put over "shots fired" at 214 Bristol St in Brownsville BKLYN although the residential dwelling there today was built in more recent years this is the original site & address of 283/SQ*4 on Bristol bet Sutter & Blake Aves.

There was a thread concerning a new FH for R*2 which had discussion more so on the location but this link floating around possibly from the developer or designer is really OUT THERE...i have seen artists renderings of new FHs since the '60s but all this green focus is very strange.... also while agree with $ spent for a training facility aspect i do not understand this part ...QUOTE.. I agree with you, Chief, especially regarding the hype. In my opinion, a firehouse is located within a community to provide a base of operations for service to that community.
A firehouse is used to house the members of the company or companies that operate out of it, so it should comfortably accommodate the members, with enough room for training, eating, relaxing, studying, sleeping, etc. It should have enough room for the appratus and all the equipment associated with the rig/rigs and should not be cramped.
The members should have input on the layout and the functionality of the quarters.
The "green" aspect (not to be confused with efficiently), along with the artwork, is a waste of resources. Good luck to Rescue 2 on the new house and to future companies when their time for new quarters comes.

Think back many years to when 305/151 quarters were built. It was designed so it fit into the "looks" of the affluent Forest Hills Community. That house has to be close to 100 years old or more.

The city is certainly getting its monies worth from the completely utilitarian, low cost, temporary "Tin Houses" which are 45 years old this year.
